The Birthday Song

Happy Birthday Baby!

We had such a good time at Anna's birthday this evening! We sang, had pink and brown cake and pink and brown ice cream, and then sang some more. We even danced a little bit :) Anna was so damn cute when we sang to her, check back later for the video!

Night Three: Sleep Schedule

Yesterday I made sure that she was awake by 1pm and that she took her nap by 4. She wouldn't go down at 4 even though she was obviously sleepy, so we made a quick trip in the car. It took all of 6 minutes (and probably $5 worth of gas ;) to get her to sleep. By that time it was about 4:30, and she woke up at about 6. I was really excited at midnight last night when she got sleepy and started rubbing her eyes, but she wanted nothing to do with going to sleep. So, another ride in the car it was. One of our favorite things to do here is taking a drive late at night in the country, looking for wild critters and shooting stars. Anyway, Ian was passed out within 5 minutes but it took her till almost 2 am to go to sleep. It's a little after noon now, so she's about to be rudely awakened! I suppose that 2 is better than 5. I'm afraid that with our road trip to California all of this is going to get screwed up anyway...

Night Two: Sleep Schedule Adjusting

I think my devious plan worked. Last night, instead of letting Anna go to sleep at 3 am or 5 am or whatever ungodly time she decided to finally pass out, I kept her awake as long as I possibly could. We were up with the sun, and at 6:45 she just couldn't play any longer and passed out on the floor. I carried her into the bedroom and set the alarm for noon. I finally stopped pushing snooze at 1pm and I woke her up. That was the difficult part. However, I was persistent with tickles and songs and bouncing on the bed. Ian thought that waking her up was the best job ever. At 4pm she had finally had enough, and I let her take a 2 hour nap. She almost fell asleep in the car later in the afternoon but I kept her up. At midnight I could tell she was sleepy, so I dressed her for bed. By 1am she was passed out with her daddy. Hooray! I'm going to wake her up in the morning at 11, then repeat the process until she's going to bed at 8 or 9 like a normal baby. I'll keep you updated Cynthia and let you know if it worked!

Just in Time

Looks like we're moving just in time. Today Anna discovered that if she takes something long, she can reach the water dispenser on the refrigerator. Unfortunately we didn't spring for the model with the child lock on it. Twice today I've mopped up a flooded kitchen :)
