Rewards of Teaching

It's always nice to read an article like this: "USD 305 Basks in Glow of 2008 Assessments"... and to know that you did your part in helping your students and your school succeed. I miss Oakdale!

We Win!

We went to the playoffs last night in Anaheim... what a blast! Angels stadium is beautiful and the majority of the Angels fans were really nice. They were almost as many Red Sox fans as there were Angels fans there! The crowd was loud and exciting and we had an opportunity to see the Angels "Rally Monkey". He's hilarious. Ian just HAD to have one! That was a little awkward; buying an Angels Rally Monkey while decked out in all your Red Sox gear :)

Happy Graduation Shawn!

Shawn graduated today from the federal law enforcement training he's been going through for the last ten weeks. We're so proud of him!

The crowd that showed up to see him get his badge...
The badge...

And me, relaxing at the Officer's Club following the ceremony!
And Anna, giving her best cheesball smile :)

Night Two: Sleep Schedule Adjusting

I think my devious plan worked. Last night, instead of letting Anna go to sleep at 3 am or 5 am or whatever ungodly time she decided to finally pass out, I kept her awake as long as I possibly could. We were up with the sun, and at 6:45 she just couldn't play any longer and passed out on the floor. I carried her into the bedroom and set the alarm for noon. I finally stopped pushing snooze at 1pm and I woke her up. That was the difficult part. However, I was persistent with tickles and songs and bouncing on the bed. Ian thought that waking her up was the best job ever. At 4pm she had finally had enough, and I let her take a 2 hour nap. She almost fell asleep in the car later in the afternoon but I kept her up. At midnight I could tell she was sleepy, so I dressed her for bed. By 1am she was passed out with her daddy. Hooray! I'm going to wake her up in the morning at 11, then repeat the process until she's going to bed at 8 or 9 like a normal baby. I'll keep you updated Cynthia and let you know if it worked!
